  • My mare was diagnosed with gastric rupture 3 days after foaling. Her filly went to the hospital ER with her and left as an orphan. The ER vets recommended ColdSpring Mares; they brought her a surrogate nurse mare within 8 hours. The nurse mare is AMAZING; my husband calls her the professional. It has been over 2 months and our filly is thriving; Thank you ColdSpring Mares!

  • As always, Bronwyn and Cold Springs Nurse Mares went above and beyond in our time of need. My veterinarian practice has now used Cold Springs on several occasions and each time Bronwyn is professional and compassionate in an emergent situation. The mares are all fantastic to work with and amazing mothers to our orphan foals. Thank you for all that you do - I appreciate you.

  • We had an unexpected orphan Welsh pony foal this year and needed a nurse mare quickly. BRONWYN at ColdSpring Was super helpful in providing the wonderful Loretta for our baby. Loretta bonded with the colt quickly and has been a wonderful surrogate mother for him. I highly recommend their services. Melinda Zalesky, Quicksilver Farm Welsh Ponies

  • Words can’t even begin to describe how fantastic this program is. I have personally witnessed and used these mares. NO THROW AWAY FOALS EVER. These mares are always in fantastic health and easy to be around. They walk off the trailer with one thing in mind and that is to save and raise an orphan baby. The last pairing took less than 2 minutes. This baby just wanted someone to love him and let him nurse. His real Mum was not up to the Mum challenge she had other ideas. This is the fourth mare I’ve had at my farm and all have been amazing. Thank you for what you do Cold Springs Nurse Mares, LLC

  • I have been breeding/foaling horses for quite a few years now & have foaled well over a few thousand mares. In all my experience with nurse mares I have never had such a wonderful experience that I had with Bronwyn & Cold Spring. I had a clients mare foal & unfortunately have a 3rd degree perineal laceration, along with other complications, we humanely euthanized the mare & needed a nurse mare. I have never had a nurse mare take to a foal with such ease & speed as Bronwyn’s mare did. The mare herself was in great condition & is an absolute pleasure to handle & work with. I absolutely couldn’t recommend Cold Spring Nurse Mares enough if anyone is ever in need of a nurse mare. The professionalism, speed & communication of Bronwyn is so appreciated in a stressful time for clients & myself. Her mares are very well cared for & are wonderful to handle. Can’t thank her enough for offering such a fantastic service.

  • Cold Spring Nurse Mares and Bronwyn Watts have come to my rescue on two occasions. In 2022 my Connemara pony mare rejected her foal, we struggled for several days to change her mind but exhausted and defeated we called Bronwyn and within hours she was on the road with Luna. She drove through a tropical storm and at one point had to wait for the fire service to clear trees so that she could get to our barn. Luna walked off the trailer and took care of our foal Malachy who is now a thriving 2 year old. In 2023 we decided to breed our mare again hoping that her rejection of her first foal would not repeat itself. Very bad decision. Once again Bronwyn came to the rescue this time with Boo. Bronwyn’s mare’s are extremely well cared for, they are seasoned professional mom’s that step off the trailer and understand their mission. Bronwyn runs a fabulous and very necessary program. I would highly recommend her service anyone in the unfortunate position of needed a nurse mare.

  • Bronwyn is a wizard. She handled my special needs foal Baxter (he had to be paired in the hospital after surviving a hip lock dystocia that took the life of his recipient mare momma and he is still recovering from severe peripheral nerve damage so he has limited mobility and he’s HUGE) with the utmost care and concern. Pearl was uncertain at first but with Bronwyn’s guidance the mare accepted Baxter and they formed a beautiful bond. I cannot express enough what a difference working with such a professional, empathetic and competent organization has made for me and my foal. A week ago we didn’t know if he would ever stand or walk on his own. I was afraid to even hope for him to have the love and acceptance of a nurse mom but Bronwyn assured me that she had the perfect mare for him and she was right!

  • Coldspring Nurse Mares, LLC came highly recommended by our Vets when we found ourselves in a VERY STRESSFUL position. We brought a new mare to our farm right before winter. What we didn't know is that she was pregnant..... To our surprise we had a foal laying in our pasture one morning and noone knew where it came from.... finally realizing who the mother was she was no where to be found. She was totally ignoring this new beautiful baby laying life less by itself in the pasture. Sadly She was rejecting her .... everything was done to try and help them bond WITH No luck... they had to be transported to the hospital where we were recommended to these wonderful ladies at Coldspring Nurse Mares, LLC. Once I spoke to Brookwyn the ball was rolling for this beautiful sweet Tiny filly to meet her adopted mom, Thicket !!!! It was the most beautiful heart warming miracle that I have ever been a part of... They prepared things so that this nurse mare treated this baby like she was her own... amazingly she started smelling her and then licking and loving her as her own... The baby latched on like she knew what she was doing as well ... The bonding process that happened was unbelievable !!!! Thicket and her owners are ALL ANGELS AMONG US !!!! Our sweet unexpected orphaned filly now has a new momma to spend her most vulnerable part of her life with and We can't thank them enough!!!

  • I LOVE Cold Spring Nurse Mares! I lost my mare on March 25th with a 2 day old foal by her side. I contacted Bronwyn and she acted quickly. She stayed in touch with me while the process was happening and helping me with my orphaned foal, all while getting things lined up for our nurse mare. When the nurse mare, Adeste, arrived everything went smoothly. They completely handled the pairing and even stayed a bit to make sure everything was perfect. Adeste immediately took the baby and has loved him as her own from the moment she saw him. Adeste is a true angel and we couldn’t have asked for a better mother for our foal. I am so grateful to Cold Spring Nurse Mares, Bronwyn and Adeste!! They are heaven sent!
