Jovial Monarch—known to us as Marie—is a 2005 Thoroughbred mare who earned $57,176 on the racetrack before transitioning into motherhood. She raised four foals of her own before joining ColdSpring in 2023, arriving with the solid foundation and experience of a seasoned broodmare.

Since joining our program, Marie has raised four orphan foals, including two back-to-back in 2024. She stepped into her new role effortlessly, proving herself to be a calm, consistent, and deeply reliable nursemare.

Marie is a “plain bay” in color, but everything about her shines. Her temperament is soft and steady, her instincts beautifully tuned, and her presence soothing to even the most fragile of orphans. She mothers with quiet confidence—no drama, no fuss, just pure, dependable care.
