Peaka, a 2014 Thoroughbred mare, came to us with an unknown racing history but a spirit that speaks for itself. Young, stunning, and naturally kind, Peaka has become one of our quiet gems. Since joining ColdSpring, she has lovingly raised three orphan foals, each one benefiting from her calm, steady presence.

In 2025, Peaka had her most remarkable season yet. She was asked to take on a special-needs Thoroughbred colt born severely premature—delicate, fragile, and requiring strict stall rest and constant monitoring. Many mares would struggle with such a challenging situation, but not Peaka.

She stepped into the role with grace and astonishing intuition. Veterinarians repeatedly complimented her on how gently and attentively she cared for that tiny colt. She watched over him, nurtured him, and gave him the safety he needed to thrive.

Under her care, that tiny baby grew into a strong, strapping young colt—an outcome that left his owners absolutely over the moon.
