Born in 2008, Roo is a 17-year-old warmblood mare who joined our program in 2022 and quickly became one of our most trusted mothers. In her time with us, she has lovingly raised four orphan foals, each one benefiting from her quiet confidence and nurturing heart.

Roo came to us with an old injury that slowly turned arthritic over the years. We have monitored her closely, always making sure she remained comfortable, healthy, and able to enjoy her work as a nurse mare. This year, her arthritis progressed enough that we made the decision to retire her—choosing her long-term comfort over anything else.

Now, Roo will spend her remaining good days here at ColdSpring, surrounded by familiar routine, soft pastures, and all the love she’s earned. She has given so much to the orphans who needed her most.
