Born in 2013, Roxy is a big, breathtaking Hanoverian Warmblood who came to ColdSpring in 2020. Since then, she has raised seven orphan foals, including one incredible year where she took on two babies back-to-back thanks to her abundant milk supply and unwavering maternal instinct.

Roxy’s journey to becoming a nursemare began with heartbreak. Her first foal became tragically stuck during birth—a dystocia—resulting in the loss of the foal and severe internal trauma to Roxy. She nearly bled out during the emergency intervention, but she fought her way back. The damage, however, made it unsafe for her to ever carry a foal again.

When her owner received sudden orders to go overseas, she had to make a difficult decision in Roxy’s best interest. Unsure where to turn and short on time, she reached out to us in a moment of panic. We welcomed this stunning mare with open arms—and we have never looked back.

Roxy has blossomed into one of our standout nursemares, combining her striking beauty with an equally beautiful heart. She is gentle, attentive, and doting with her babies, nurturing them with a softness that feels both healing and profound.
