Spirit is a 2011 Thoroughbred mare who won $30,930 on the track. She was donated to us by one of our biggest supporters—someone who has not only trusted us as a client, but has also generously gifted multiple mares to our program. We are incredibly grateful for people like this, who help make our mission possible.

Spirit joined ColdSpring in 2022 and has since raised four orphan foals, including two in one year during her standout 2023 season. She is a big, stout mare with a gentle soul—steady, patient, and wonderfully soft with her babies. Her foals feel safe the moment they tuck themselves beneath her, and Spirit thrives when she has a little one to love.

In 2025, Spirit took the year off after battling a stubborn sinus infection triggered by ongoing allergies. Despite treatment and care, it took longer than expected to fully resolve, so we allowed her the rest and recovery she deserved.

Our hope is to have Spirit back in the rotation for the 2026 season, as raising babies is where she shines brightest and seems most content.
