Vision came to ColdSpring in 2022 from one of our cherished supporters, and she has been shining ever since. Born in 2009, this 16-year-old Thoroughbred mare is as classy and eye-catching as they come—flashy, elegant, and unmistakably proud. But above all, Vision loves being a nurse mare. It is truly where she thrives.

Her story is not an easy one. Vision began her broodmare career with a devastating dystocia during her very first foaling. Despite every effort, her foal could not be saved, and the focus shifted to saving Vision’s own life. She survived—but the injury and trauma from the birthing process made it unsafe for her to ever carry a foal again.

That chapter, though painful, is far behind her now. And perhaps it is precisely that experience—the loss, the resilience, the second chance—that makes her such a remarkable nursemare today. Vision mothers with intention, calmness, and gratitude. She knows the importance of her role, and she embraces every orphan foal with a heart that feels both healing and healed.
